HANDMADE STONEWARE FROM VERMONT’S NORTHEAST KINGDOM
made by hand for daily use
Uphill Pottery is a one-woman ceramics studio in rural Vermont, focusing on handmade, functional wares that are meant to be used every day. As humans we connect with ritual acts like the sharing of food or drink, and the everyday vessels we use can also be works of art that greet you each day.
Pottery is my way of sparking small moments of joy with simple, handmade, functional wares. Each piece is a labor of love, from start to finish. A surprising level of detail goes into even simple pieces, and each has its own character, with perfectly balanced imperfections.
Handmade goods offer a connection to place, to the maker, and to millennia of craft that endured before the modern era of automation, industry, and instant gratification. Quite simply, they are part of what makes us human.
